Dr. Shu-Ching Chen
Dr. Shu-Ching Chen is an Associate Director and an Eminent Scholar Chaired Professor in the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS), Florida International University (FIU), Miami. He has been a Full Professor since August 2009 in SCIS at FIU. Prior to that, he was an Assistant/Associate Professor in SCIS at FIU from 1999. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1998, and Master’s degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering in 1992, 1995, and 1996, respectively, all from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA.

Steven Luis
Mr. Luis serves as Executive Director for Technology and Industry Relations in the College of Engineering and Computing. Over the last thirty years, he has successfully lead higher education IT research and instructional enterprise services for the state’s largest IT and Computer Science degree programs. Mr. Luis collaborates with FIU faculty, industry research staff, and government agencies on computing-related R&D, via the acquisition and execution of millions of dollars in state, local, and federal funded projects, industrial contracts, and donations. He has overseen dozens of in-house software development projects, establishing business requirements, designing software frameworks, implementing, and deploying them for administrative or R&D purposes.

Miguel Alonso Jr.
Dr. Miguel Alonso Jr is an Associate Professor of Computer Science (Visiting) at Florida International University. His research interests include Deep Computer Vision for Autonomy, Autonomous Robotics and Autonomous Navigation, Visual SLAM, UAV for Agriculture Analysis, ML for Mycotoxin Prediction, Deep Learning towards full end-to-end autonomy. His teaching areas of interest include Image Processing, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Data Mining, Modern Control Systems, Robotics.
Samira Pouyanfar
Samira Pouyanfar is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS), Florida International University (FIU), Miami, USA. She has 10+ years of research and development experiences in computer science. She received a Master degree in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (SUT) in 2012. Her research interests include data science, machine learning, deep learning, multimedia, big data, healthcare, and information retrieval.
Haiman Tian
Haiman Tian is an experienced researcher and Ph.D. Candidate with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. She is skilled in Machine Learning, Data Mining, Big Data, Programming, and Multimedia, with strong research professional. She obtained a Master of Science - MS focused in Computer Engineering from Florida International University - College of Engineering & Computing.
Maria E. Presa Reyes
Maria E. Presa Reyes is an experienced Graduate Research Assistant with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and currently holding a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Florida International University. Her main research focus is on Multimedia Data Mining and the applications of Artificial Intelligence to disaster management. One of her main projects focuses on a 3D visualization that shows the dangers of storm surge flooding in coastal areas, by using information from satellite images and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data.
Tianyi Wang
Tianyi Wang is a Ph.D. student and an experienced Graduate Research Assistant with a demonstration history of working in the higher education industry. He is skilled in Machine Learning, Data Mining, Big Data, and Multimedia, with a strong research professional with a Master’s degree focused on Computer Science from Florida International University.
Hector Cen
Hector Cen has worked extensively on Big Data projects which involved heavy data analysis, cleaning, and processing. He is proficient in installation, configuration, deployment and maintenance of technology platforms for automation, testing and production environments, network services, databases and free and open-source software applications.
