During the Fall semester of 2018, our team prepared educational materials for the Machine Learning (CAP 5610) course at Florida International University. It was the first step to develop and implement the curriculum and teach students airline industry-specific domain knowledge. Our aim was to prepare data science graduates to work in the airline industry.

Outcome: Students worked on an extra-credit assignment with the objective of applying machine learning code to the public airline data (DB1B & T-100). One student, in particular, built a model to recommend the type of aircraft that can be used when a new origin-destination market pair is introduced. Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and ANN models were built and tested as part of the student’s solution.

The following is a preview of the presentation slides prepared by our team members.
